Hello to everyone. I just bought a 97 explorer sport so the time is here to join a forum. I have always wanted a explorer and finally got my chance to own one. It's a little ruff but what do you want for 3 grand. The body is clean and the under body is decent. The interior is in ok shape. The few problems that I have found are a few lights dont work(big deal lights go out) and the engine is hesitant over 50mph it jerks like its out of gas. Well thanks all for reading my little rant about my truck.

Welcome To The Forum! Make sure your air filter is clean, be best to also change the fuel filter, clean the MAF and clean the IAC, those could be contributing to your issue.

thanks Glen I will check those things out

Another thing I forgot to mention is its also possible that you may have a vacuum leak somewhere.

Also, your fuel pump could be going bad. When you start the truck does it hesitate to start? Like you have to crank it more than once/twice/three times to get it to start? If it does this, have a friend put their ear up to your fuel door when you put the truck in "run" (not start it) and have them listen for the "meeeeeeep" the fuel pump makes. If it's weak, or fades in/out, it could be your pump.

Welcome! I hope you get as much useage out of these forums as we all have.

:cool:welcome aboard

Thanks again Glenn I did find a vacuum leak from the fuel pressure regulator. Thanks for the welcome A1Tony,SuddenDeath,and olskool. The fuel injectors were all replaced next I am going to try the fuel filter. Even with the little problems it has the more I drive it the more I like it. It's my first 4wd and cant wait for snow.

That's great, soon she should be running like she should then. And the 4wd's work great in the snow, just don't get carried away like some people do and think you're invincible and drive fast on snowy roads with 4wd on.

Welcome to this forum! I've renamed your thread, and moved it into the stock 95-01 section. Do you have any codes? Is there a check engine light? Did you check your catalytic converter to see if it's partially blocked? Did you do a compression test?

I wont get crazy in the snow those guys drive me nuts. But on a back road I think thats where it will be fun. Thanks Brooklyn, I don't have any codes and no check engine light. I smacked the cat to see if it was loose in there and no rattle. The cat looks new. I had my mechanic look at it today(he is a ford guy too) and he thinks it's the fuel regulator. Before I bought the truck someone cut the vacuum line from it also the vacuum line for the vents. Right now I am only driving in the city so I am only going up to 35mph so it's good then. Once I get it fixed I can't wait to start moding it.

Is there any reason where the l.e.d third break light would fail?
