I've never heard of this issue. If I was you, I would at least remove the bulb to stop the electrical draw. Try to figure the cause later- maybe someone else can provide ideas.
its a short in the wiring in the door ...open the door look at where you pull the hood latch the door jam has a black boot with alot of wires from in the truck to the door pull that black boot and push it in the door to expose the wires start looking for a broken wire i had 4 of them in mine..sorry not sure what wire your looking for but my puddle would not come on it was a black ground was broke took about 20 mins to find and fix . hope that helps
