Hi, I got my driver side mirror stolen, so I ordered an entirely new side mirror and I was wondering on how to install the part as it didn't come with any directions.

Thanks in advance.

I went to see a movie and when I came back it was gone.

Not sure about your 96 Ex, but on my 93 Ranger, I remove the inside door panel, and there are three nuts holding the mirror on from the inside. They attach to three studs on the mirror base. Take the nuts off, disconnect the wiring, it's off!

Thats exactly how it is. How do I remove the inside door panel?

The door panel is held in place by removable heavy duty plastic expansion pins. They're fairly tight, designed to hold the panel snugly to the door frame, of course. First remove the inside door handle trim. A couple of phillips screws hold it in place. Be careful removing the trim so you don't crack it...it's thin in places. Then just get your fingers underneath the edge of the panel where the pins are attached, and pull sharply outward to pop the pin loose, one at a time. I think I've used a putty knife to do the job at times. Get the "popper tool" if you need a little more help. Anyway, there are several pins holding the panel in place all around the edges. You don't have to disconnect any of the wiring except those that go to the mirror. Remove the mirror attaching bolts, the wire bundle, replace with a new mirror, reattach it, snugging down the bolts, but don't overtighten, replace the panel by realigning each pin and whack it in with the palm of your hand. Put the trim back on and you're ready for a cold one!

Thanks, I went into the garage last night and did the full job in 30 minutes. Looks great.

what about the window crank ?

is there any need to remove the window crank or will it just rotate out of the way?

same problem on my 97 ranger, except local tribesmen did the damage on mine. guess they were bored on spring break and nothing like a little rogue action to break the monotony.

Haven't had a vehicle with cranks in ages, but when I did you always had to take the window crank off to get the door panel off. There is usually a clip on the door handle shaft - you have to lever the panel away from the base of the handle to see it, then reach in with a hook or screwdrive to push or pull the clip off. Good luck.

or sometimes a torx screw holding it on...

Who the hell steals a mirror?!?
