I'm BACK. Been gone for about a year, only popping in once in a while to check in. My wife had loaned the Ex out to her brother. After about a year he decided that it wasn't for them (3rd car with no place to park, well they would if they cleaned out their garage). Well the EX came back to me with a bunch of broken stuff. Among the first was the rear view mirror. The glass was taped in place, and positioned at a very poor angle. Last night I pulled the tape and the glass to inspect. The backing plate is all busted up. Looking on-line I find many suitable replacements for the entire unit.

This unit looks like a match and have 1 good review.
-powered
-heated
-manual folding

Not sure if I have the textured black finish, but probably close enough. I am going to buy unless someone tells me otherwise.

Next question: How do I install. Assume I pry back the inside door panel and unscrew the mirror fixture and install the new.

That was an EASY repair. Hardest part was:

-prying the switch plate up. Helps to fist pry off the handle cowling/backing plate.
-Not dropping the 3 nuts that hold the mirror in place into the depths of the door.
-The entire door panel is held in place by only 3 bolts. it all hangs in place on many plastic hanger tabs. Lift up after the 3 bolts are removed.

However the mirror I bought had a few issues.
-shakes. Reviews of all aftermarket mirrors state that they shake/vibrate some. This is no different. Not a big problem. Might try to add some foam behind the mirror glass.
-Doesn't go up far enough. In the max up position it is adjusted fine for me. But I would have like to be able to go up further and back it down to the desired position. Might be more of an issue with someone that is taller. I am just shy of 6'.

For the ease and price I am satisfied. But you might want to consider OEM if the above mentioned points might bother you.

The puddle light on the mirror still doesn't work. I didn't think that a new mirror would fix it since I was not getting power at the bulb socket, but was hopeful. Assume that there is a short in the wiring bundle through the door.
