Drivers Door Hinge

Anyone have their drivers door start making a really loud popping noise? Is there an easy fix or is it a whole assembly that needs to be replaced?

Try WD-40. If you can pinpoint where in the hinge it's coming from spray it there, if not just spray the whole hinge. Should work

Not so simple. I had to learn to accept mine. I sprayed WD40, I squirted oil, no help. I drilled into the spring housing and filled it with lubricant, still no better. It appears I just have to live with it.

Try white lithium grease

Sorry to bring up an old post but my 2009 XLT's rear left passenger door was making that popping noise whenever I open or close. I open/lose the door several times but can't pin point the exact spot of the noise. I checked on all the nuts/bolts and spread white lithium grease. The noise went away for a few days and then come back again. Tried both WD40 and white lithium grease; maybe the live with that noise is just part of Exp owernership

bottom hinge has a roller, to give indents the partial open and fully open door, the ball on it, or the roller probably has a flat spot from not turning.

front door hinge very loud popping

so I see all the posts about having this same issue, did anyone come up with a way to fix it other than replacing the hinge. I'm waiting for my new car to come in so really don't want to put a lot of money into this Explorer before I get rid of it.

does it have the little arm from the body to the door? if so check the bolt on the body end.





edit-------never mind. I just checked my 08 and it doesn't have that.
