No matter how I ask this, it's going to sound dumb so here goes. Does anyone know how to replace the little bulb in the driver's door? It is burnt out and I thought it would just unscrew but unfortunately the socket is removed that way and the assembly falls inside the door panel. Fortunately I was planning on removing the door panels anyways for new speakers so I retrieved the little sucker but can't figure out how the bulb is removed.

On mine the part where the wires go in just twists out and then you pull the bulb out of that socket, put a new one in and twist it back in. It's probably different on 1st gens tho.

The light in the door isn't the twist-in/twist-out type. It's the push-in/pull out type. So if you twist, you'll remove the socket, and that's not what you want. So just give it a tug and it'll pop right out. That almost sounds painfull...

the socket itself twists into the door panel... the bulb which should be a 194 sized bulb just pops in.... push in/pull out.... its vard to grab it though, i had to use a pair of pliers on mine.... there isnt enough surface area on the buld to grab with my big ole goofy hands.....

this was on my 94

Is the socket dark? If it is, the bulb has slightly melted the socket. You have to pull out really hard. I hav had to change lots of those, and it can be a PITA......

Thanks guys. I know all about the socket twist thing now, hey at least I know how easy it is now to pull a door panel.:D

Crankcase:
The socket is still nice and opague white, not melted.
