Hi, i have a 1996 Explorer, and my windows started to quit working on and off. i checked the fuse, the Accessory delay relay, and i pulled the master switch out, but i can't find a drawing of what pin is what on the switch so i can test it. if you can show me a drawing of what pin is what it would be greatly appreciated. thank you,

Andy

Andy, I have a '96 Explorer also and have the same problem. All my windows work intermittently or not at all. I checked the accessory delay relay and also checked the battery saver relay and both were OK. I then pulled the switch like you did and was able to check for power at the switch. It's the light blue wire with black stripe that feeds power to the switch. On mine, when the windows were working, it had power, when they were not, no power from this wire. I then pulled out the accessory delay relay and checked for continuity from pin # 30 on the relay socket to the back of the switch (light blue wire w/ black stripe). I found the problem to be related to my drivers door position - I had continuity when the door was in the closed or partially open position, but lost it when I opened the door all the way (We noticed earlier that we could sometimes get the windows to work when we moved the door around). So, I think I have a broken wire - problably where the wires pass through the rubber boot on the door. You might have the same problem.

I do not have a shematic for the switch that identifies the pins, but I do have a link to shematics that show the switch. I believe the switch shows on the fourth page (LH FRONT POWER WINDOW SWITCH). From the diagram, and by looking at the location of the pins on the switch, you can sort of figure out how it works, and what pins operate what (each rocker switches line up with the pins below - one is up, one is down, etc). Hope this helps.
