Hi All!!
I am having problems with my driver's door window. A while back the motor seemed to be struggling to raise the glass and eventually the switch gave out. I pulled it apart (I am a typical E.E. DIY-er) to discover that the switch had melted due to excessive current flow.
To cut a long story short, I found a replacement switch on ebay, and purchased a "rebuilt" motor. I haven't installed the new motor yet because half -way through the operation I discovered my window is held in with rivets, not bolts (AAAAAARGH!!!! FORD), and apart from that, the old motor still can raise/lower the window when I short the right connections. So my questions are:
1. Has anyone else had the same/similar problems?
2. If so what did you do to mitigate them?
3. Is there a lubrication problem that could be fixed without replacing the motor?
4. What would I use to re-lube the cables in the regulator?
5. Where can I get the right sized rivets/bolts to replace the ones I have to drill out to get the regulator out?
Thanks all so much for your time and valued input!!
Ben.
