I've searched the site for answers about my specific problem, but couldn't find any. The rocker-switches, my remote, and the outside keypad unlock every door on the car - from inside or out - except the driver's side door. For a while, I could work the lock-knob or door handle and the switches at the same time and could finally get it to open. Now I'm trapped into having to crawl out the passenger-side door - and I'm worried that the whole lock system will shut down and I'll have to break glass to get in or out of the vehicle!

I know it's not a fuse or the actuator because all the other locks work just fine. My guess is that there's a mechanical connection broken inside the driver's side door . . . but I can't get the d#@n door open to remove the interior skin and fix it!!

Any suggestions?

Broken door latch spring. Roll down the window. Use a coat hanger or slim jim to pull up the rod that connects to the outside handle and use unlock button to unlock the door. Then jury rig a weak spring to pull up the rod while you go to a Ford dealer and purchase a new door latch or try to fix the broken spring in your old latch. Compare drivers side to passenger side and you'll see the small broken spriing.

Hi scucci -
Thanks for the help! I won't be able to get to the repair for a couple days, but I'll post about how it went. Today I've been replacing instrument cluster bulbs. What a pain!

I replaced just the spring by using one from one of those 101 Random Springs boxes for like $5. Take the door panel off, get a flashlight, and start messing with it. Use the passenger door as a reference if need be. You'll figure it out in 15 minutes.
