I got a 94 explorer xlt can someone explain to me what the driveshaft is and could it be the reason for vibrartion at high speed....and shimming when i hit a bump?

The drive shaft tranfers power from the engine to the rear diff. Did you lift it or change the drive shaft? Your vibration more than likely is allignment and wheel balancing.

I got an allignment and balanced the tires but everytime i hit a bump the back rattles.

Check all your suspension bushings and shock absorbers.
