I use my Ex for work. I start/stop about 300 times a day in just a few hours. I have been keeping it in 3rd gear on the shifter to try saving some fuel.

Is this too taxing on my '03 Ex's trans. (3.55 rear) or can I keep the rpm's low and be safe.

Well... it is probably pretty tough long term on the engine for sure....but as long as it isn't slipping excessively (The intermmediate band is used for 3rd in the 5R55) I'm thinking the only component likely to suffer some stres is the front one way clutch (sprag). You will shorten the intermediate band life, I am sure.

thanks glacier

i spent 2 nights driving this way (in 3rd). when i went in reverse a few times there were some moments where it seemed like things did not shift right into reverse.

now (after only 2 nights) i am driving home finally in drive and i get pretty good hesitation going into 3rd or overdrive.

what the heck did i do?

thanks
