well i am generally tired of the ruff ride i am getting out of my 92, its not too bad but i wish it was a bit better

i have 4 newer shocks, installed them last summer, and i was wondering if there was a NON-expensive way to add dual shocks in the front.

what i was thinking was somewhere in the area of taking a few grade A bolts and havin my cousin weld them in place and bam dual shock mounting

any ideas about this?

thanks
ryan

I can't really imagine how dual shocks are going to make the ride any better. If anything, I think it would just get rougher.

????

thats odd reasoning, but i thank you for your response because it will help me answer some questions..but
the reasoning i used was "shock absorber" so thinking logically another one would dissapate the "bump" over 2 shocks rather than just one taking the brunt of the bump.

I think for normal street driving two shocks would not improve your ride much if any... for offroad use it would probably help as it would be able to soak up bigger bumps and not work the shocks as hard. I know the Bronco I had for a while had dual shocks up front and that thing was really solid offroad....anyway Im rambling now....

ok that does make sense.
so i'm straching this idea
thanks guys!

Have you might want to replace your bushings up front if you haven't already.

where are the bushings at?
is it difficult to do?
does that improve th ride?

Bushings are basically poly or rubber things that go at the ends of a suspension part that moves. For example, the radius arm bushing, sway bar bushings, etc. It tightens up the ride as well as dampening it.

I agree with Jason on this one. With duals on there, it will be harder for the spring to compress. This should lead to a stiffer ride. When off-roading and doing a little bouncing off rocks and such, the duals would be helpful. When on road, or mild off roading, I would think the ride would be rougher.

I agree with Hartman also. If I were you, I would go for some Daystar Poly Bushings to help out the ride and improve performance.

these bushings
could i replace them myself EASILY? i mean under 4 hours with not too much stress involved?

if i did it i would probably buy all of them, the whole deal and do all the bushings at once.

Search this forum for radius arm bushings

the section entitled 'suspension..' has RA info

Maybe if you are good and fast mechanic you can do it in under 4 hours, but the first time I changed them it took me about 6. Most of the time was spent grinding the rivets off. The 2nd time you do it, it takes about 1/4 the time.
