Dumb question, but what is this for?

I just bought an Explorer console for my Ranger, and I can't figure out what this hole is for:

Does it have a purpose, or is it just to drop stuff into and then wonder how to get it back out?

You can buy a tissue box that fits underneath that. I think you can get to it from the back when the lid is up. But the tissues go through that hole. If that makes sense.

Its the kleenex holder... if you open the console lid, you can get to the slot to put a small thin box of kleenex in there, and then pull the sheets through that hole... Most ppl dont use it though.

I think at a supermarkeet or something similar. They usually sell packs of three or something. You might have to squish the box a little to get it to fit.

they stopped makin boxes that fit in there, if you have after-market lights such as hellas, i would put the swith there, thats what a lot of people have done, including me.

I pulled the holder out and slid my CB in there and the bottom facing Speaker faces out the hole. That worked well too.

The proper size Kleanex boxes are available in grocery stores. I have no problem finding them.

I have gone to TARGET and gotten them there for $.99 a box, I just scanned the bax front and back.... that way you have an Idae what your looking for.

If you cant find them at grocery stores, I know the Ford dealer still sells them in the parts department, atleast the one here does, so I imagine that the other ones do too.

hide a gun in there. never know when ya might need it. also for switches, and kleenex. don't put kleenex boxes in there b/c all you'll do is rip the box to pieces trying to get the darn thing out. if ya hit a bump and it get off tiltered you have to rip it out. also the kleenex are small and then my big nose blows hard and i have to 3x it for it to stoip anything.

Yes. the hole is designed for kleenex . Kleenex jrs. will fit although Ford recommends Motorcraft Part # 35-44478964 Ford kleenex for $12.78 List per box.
