I was wondering if I could put some dynamatt around the powersteering pump to quiet the whine. This is the only quirk I have with this truck, I've quieted it down somebut would like some more results.

Have you tried synthetic PS fluid? It worked well for mine.

Good luck ....

Al's advise is sound. ( no pun intneded )
A dynamat likely wont do much at all any way and with a pully just inches away, there is risk involved.

Step up to synth. You will notice a difference.

I think I've got a syth blend in there now with some lucas additive, like i said it helped but not to what I was expecting. I'll give full syth a try, should I use some addtive as well or leave it out ?

Is the lucal you're using just the really really thick stuff? Is yeah, that's why it's moaning or whining. I tried it in mine and it sucked. It stopped leaking though :D

I would suggest putting some synthetic Mercon ATF in that pump, but I would insult/ offend too may people here if I did. You can PM me if you'd like about it.

Why insult them? I'll leave the additive out this time and see what happens, just looking for small projects to do over spring break.

PM me if you'd like to know

If your pump is making a roaring noise, then it's time to replace it. Ford's are the worst about bad power steering pumps. I wonder if they have ever corrected that problem yet?

No its def. not roaring, not even close, like I said it used to be a lot worse but since the fluid change and additive the steering has gotten easier and has also quited down a bit. I suspect the additive makes the fluid to thick in the colder temps and it whines due to that.
