The e-locker is a full carrier (similar to an ARB) and requires swapping the bearings and ring gear. I rode in an early Bronco a few weeks ago that had a front e-locker. Just like any selectable locker, its on or off. The main difference is that it makes no noise at all. The only way you can tell its on is the light on the swith and the added traction.
