I bought an early 97 (09/96) 5.0 mountaineer that's in rough condition and has 275,000 miles on it.. I'm unsure if the engine has ever been replaced but it seems to run well. I bought it with the intention of pulling the engine and putting it in my 1981 f150 flareside that currently has the 300/6cyl and a T18 4spd. Ive searched high and low trying to find the answer as to which flywheel I need to use for this engine to work with that 4spd manual.. I know it needs to obviously be a 50 oz but outside of that I'm unsure of the tooth count or the diameter! Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

A buddy of mine was going to install a 302 in his 83 F150 300 6cyl back in the 90s. He never did it but from what I remember if you have all the pieces from both motors I think you have what you need to do it.

I know this don't help much but since he never went through with it I can't say for sure.

I appreciate your reply anyway! It's just one of those things that if you get the wrong tooth count flywheel your starter won't catch the teeth.

Should need an 11" flywheel for a 86 and newer 5.0.

A 50oz 11"
