the cheepest way to start off would be a CAI and an exhaust system I think, and if you have enuph left a Tune.

1.) Programmer
2.) Intake
3.) at least a muffler, stock is majorly constrictive
4.) tune up
5.) Re gear

These are just suggestions, Most stuff can be found on Jegs, summit, jcwhitney, or explorerexpress

Good luck
Justin

I have been told with the programmer i would have to send out my computer. is that true.? That was only thing holding me back from that. I would be out of a ride until it came back.

Send a message to James Henson of Henson Performance, he is an SCT dealer and member of this awesome site. His web site is http://www.hensonperformance.com/ There are many members on here that will swear by his custom tunes for the Explorer using an xcal programmer and it would probably be well within your budget with change left over.

The $260 balancer is the best money for power for the SOHC, other than a PCM tune. A PCM flasher runs about $400 and does not require down time. Those tunes will be very good from James of this site(sponsor).

Do the rear exhaust, not the front, and an air cleaner, not K&N(they do not clean the air well). Buy the best cleaning air filter, not just high flowing, Amsoil does both. Leave the gearing alone, work on the trans(VB kit), or an electric fan. Regards,

you dont have to send out ur compy. Just call up james (his number is on his site) u just tell him your mods and your comp code and such and he will put ur tunes in the programmer. He has a great deal, a SCT X3 and 3 custom tunes for 389 bucks. Its great ur tranny shifts firmer, and at better shift points, and there is definately more power. Get the exhaust and get it put on then get the programmer and tune from James at hensonperformance.com I think you will be very happy with the boost in performance
