today i was bringing our newborn home from the hospital, it was a little warm so i decided i would put the A/C on to cool it off a little....it didnt happen.

i popped the hood and realized the compressor clutch wasnt kicking in, i knew just a week before the system worked perfect so i knew it had some charge.

i jumped the switch on the accumulater and still couldnt get the clutch to grab, i also put a test light on it and wasnt getting any power to the wires at that switch with the air on max AC. all the fuses looked fine and the unit in the dash still seems to be working correctly.

its a 96 EB 5.0 awd.

anybody have any idea's? i need to get it working asap as its going to be a bit warm this week and i dont want the baby getting too hot.

thanks for the help.

Jump the clutch straight to the battery and see if it engages, you don't even need the engine running....just listen for the click. If it works, I'd put some more refrigerant in it.

IF you aren't getting any "juice" at the "low pressure" switch, then your problem is further "upstream". Next stop -> check ALL your fuses ... don't just "look at them"... use your test light. Power comes from the fuses toward the EATC and then to the low pressure switch... simple circuit... odds are you have a blown fuse.

Which fuses and relays should I be looking at? I pulled every fuse that had to do anything with a/c per the manual. I've got a test light and from what all I can tell they had power.

back at you... which fuses did you check?

i checked 9,10 and 18. those were the only thing in the manual that mentioned eatc or A/c

ok.... my "info" appears to indicate 6, 9, and 18.

9 is eatc memory, 10 is eatc system and 18 is A/C system.

6 is showing up as airbag system and blower relay
