Hey Guys, I'm installing an ELocker, Disc brakes, axles from a 98 rear end into my original 93 housing. Im presently running a 98 axle with 3:73 gears because the original axle with 4:56s cracked the carrier. I have purchased a Eaton locker (31 spline) to replace the carrier in the old unit and after the locker is installed I want to add the Disc brakes and 31 splined axles to the rebuilt 93 housing. Is there any differences between the housings that will prevent me from installing the Late model parts into the older unit? My concerns are related to the axle size, outer bearing/seals, etc being the same on both units. Any knowledge would be appliciated.
Thanks:eek:

I would like to know as well. I had an idea to swap rear axles from a gen 2 to my gen 1. The gen two axle has disc brakes. I wanted to swap the entire axle. Everthing would be newer. I saw yesterday on the board a guy in CA has a complete axle for $250.

Im sure the outside dementions are the same becausde I running the 98' model axle in my 93 X. And I know that the Disc and backing plates will interchange because its been done and posted on the site here. However, are the 28 and 31 splind axles the same size?

Its all the same

Yes, after receiving my parts, the axle dementions are the same with the exception of spline count. Inconclussion, everything from a pre 95 will fit in a post 95 axle and vice-a-versa. Coool!
