ECC IV or EEC V ?

Hi Buddys !!---------I have question.. I have a Explorer 94 XLT...and I want to do a scanner ( but without the scanner machine , I dont have it !) just looking the Check Engine Light ( is alternative code retrieval procedure for ford EEC-IV systems ). how I can know if my explorer have a EEC-IV or EEC-V system ?......I had read if the system is EEC-IV I can to do scanner with check engine light. Is true that ??...

You have the EEC-IV system. It's possible to use a jumper wire to check it. Take a look at both sticky threads (BrooklynBay & MrShorty) at the top of the Under The Hood section in the EEC-IV subforum: http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=114. There is another thread in the main Under The Hood Section which has additional information.
