I'm having a bit of an issue, and I can't seem to figure it out for the life of me. Okay, I parked my truck for a while and when I went to crank it after a week of not starting it, it would not start. I checked the fuses under the hood and saw that i was blowing a ecu/or pcm (computer, or whatever you want to call it) fuse every time the ignition is turned to "on". Now, it still turns over and seems to be getting fuel and spark, but still no go?!? I'm guessing it's the ECU...that would be an obvious guess, but..because it will blow a fuse even with the Ecu unbolted/unplugged from the firewall and still turn over, I suppose it could be something as simple as a short somewhere. My question is; Where to begin the hunt for what I should fix/replace/repair? I've do bodywork for a living, so this isn't that easy for me. I want to try to diagnose and repair this myself without another costly dealership visit. Thanks guys, Ray:)

You want figure 34 or 36 depending on your engine. For starters I'd pull the PCM power relay but as you can see there's a sh*tload of stuff connected. Reply with the fuse that you are blowing (Fuse Link 2? Fuse 19?) and that will help.

Generally speaking, this can be troubleshot with a resistance meter, but with all the inductive components (low resistance) some troubleshooting knowledge is necessary.

Resist the urge to replace the blown fuse with a paperclip, wiring harnesses are expensive to replace.
