EGR Error Code

Hi - New to the forum.

Recently bought an '04 Explorer XLT 4.0L 4WD. It is the NB edition.
Question...
Entire Cat system plugged a week ago. I could only get up to 20 mph. Drove it to a mechanic 6 miles away. He replaced the entire catalytic converter 'y' configuration (all three cats). It ran me $1100 total (not sure if that was a decent deal - but that is for a different thread, I suppose) Anyway, after replacement it runs fine. Lots of power, no issues... EXCEPT... I now have a error code for my EGR valve. Mechanic reset it, and I drove 50 miles before it came on again. Any ideas?

without knowing or posting the exact code, we could give wild guesses? there's a lot of errors related to EGR one of them is the famous DPFE sensor that fails, the rest could be leaks.

My X threw a code for EGR. I replaced the valve and everything was fixed. Lucky day!

mechanic says that the valve is bad. Charging me $274 for parts and labor. Will be picking up this afternoon

Yep! that did it!!! .... SO, between a new Cat system and a new EGR valve, and nearly $1400 bucks later, my Explorer looks to be in good shape (hopefully for a while so I can absorb the $ouch$ from the repairs!)

So, to those who offered comments, thanks... problem resolved
