Is there an easy way to tell if I have an EGR valve on my truck? I'm interested in a set of Borla Headers and I'm not sure what set to purchase.

I think all Explorers have an EGR valve. Since I am not sure, I'll tell you where it is.

On the drivers side top of the engine, Above the oil dipstick just behind the power steering pump. Mine is silver, although the old one was black. It has the part number SAE-SJ460-AA stamped on it. It is marked with an arrow pointing up that says TOP. There is an electrical connection coming out the side of it. There is also what looks like a small vacuum hose coming off the bottom.

I had a bad EGR valve, and that is the part FORD replaced. Hopefully I am not misinformed.

Hey whats up Daemon. I did notice an increase in power as soon as i hit the gas. As for sound, it has a deep rumble at idle. Under acceleration its rather quiet, but still noticable that its not stock. Overall i would say it has a deep tone all around. It gets a little louder when muffler breaks in. I love the way it sounds and i'm very happy with it. Any more questions about it feel free to ask.

JoeC5-one more question, is that the same one that cost $239? I'm planning to get me one...hopefully next payday, hopefully.

I know that my Explorer has no EGR valve.
But if not mistaken my friend's 94 does and
it's located on the drivers side exhaust
manifold. There should be a pipe that goes from the exhaust to the intake plenuim. But
these are Canadian trucks and maybe differant
than the USA built trucks.
