Hello, I have a 2000 ranger with the 3.0 .I had a check engine light, read the code ,came up PO401 or EGR flow insufficient. I replaced the EGR valve.Erased The code. And guess what shes back same code. What do you think I should do? Replace the sensor? or the vacuum delay switch? Just curious if anybody has had this problem.Dont want to keep throwing parts at her.Any help greatly appreciated!

It's more than likely that your DPFE sensor is bad, which is a common problem with the 3.0 engine.

Thank you McCormick, I just replaced the sensor, and got to lookin at the two hoses going to it and they were all charred and swollen up on the inside,so also replaced those.Ill be back with a report .Thanks again!

Hopefully replacing the sensor and hoses will take care of your problem.

Hey McCormick! Guess what,200 miles on her and no codes!Thank you for your help.We are up and running again.Have a good one !
