EGR Valve Problem?

I have a 96 4.0 V-6 and the check engine light came on yesterday. I had the computer checked and it came back with error code P0401, which denotes insufficient flow for the EGR valve. Anyone else had this problem, and what did you do to correct problem?

I thought about trying to take the EGR of the truck and try to clean it, but I felt I would get some input from you guys before I do anything. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Don't know if it matters , but I have about 66K on the vehicle. Thanks, Johnny

Guys, one other thing that seemed a bit odd was that when I had the codes read to determine why the CEL was on the tech checked my emissions. All the readings were well within spec. If, the EGR valve is a problem would it not cause my emissions readings to be out of spec? Johnny
