Hello to fellow lovers of this'95 model Ford. I am experiencing problems with my electronic shift but still REALLY enjoy this vehicle. I take it places LOTS of other trucks dare not go!!!! What an incredible turning radius. Plus the strength of the suspension amazes me when I return to blacktop and the tire alignment and balance is perfect! By the way , I am a gold prospector and take my Ex. anywhere and every where loaded.
I am experiencing what seems to be pretty common...4x4 elec. shift probs.
Unit suddenly stopped working so I went with the option of replacing the shift motor with an after market unit rather give Ford close to $300.00 for something that probably costs them $30.00. After install....still no dash indications or shifting noises. Changed out the dash switch .no response. Checked all fuses and reset the computer. Nothing. I would really like to solve this on my own. This truck was never taken off road till I received it. It runs beautifully. At stop lights I keeping thinking it has stalled it runs so quiet and vibration free. I do not like thinking the after market unit was bad from the get go but am ready to rebuild the original Ford shift motor.
Any sound advice at this point would be greatly appreciated. I read some where there may be something back by the rear washer tank which may be involved....sounds a little strange..but I'm the first to admit mechanics is not my bag.
