Hi there!

So, a few years back my wife had a low speed front end accident and repairs were completed, but the 2016 Explorer has had a strange electrical type issue still unresolved.

The overhead interior lights, overhead visor mirror lights, and the rear seats do not operate. (The rear seats do not fold up or down.) Also, I believe the driver seat memory clears and does not retain settings. I could be wrong about the seat memory, but throwing it out there just in case it further backs up anyone's hunch on what the issue could be.

I believe we were advised after the repairs to try swapping the ECM as the fuses all tested good, but it never got done after repairs and we never contacted insurance about getting it included, so I wanted to see what others have to say.

From here I'll see about finally getting the repairs addressed. I'd really like to get confirmation that I can just buy a used ECM and install myself, but I saw that I may need to pull a code from it and have the dealership program.

Please let me know what you think! Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the Forum.
I'm guessing the overhead lights don't work on either Demand or Courtesy. The only fuse/relay in the engine bay panel is one that might affect the 3rd-row power seats. The interior lamps fuses are in the cabin fuse panel. I would think that neither of these locations is the problem. Unfortunately I'm not familiar with what is involved in changing out the ECM. Perhaps other members might be able to help with that.
