Electronic shift control module location?

I was reading about a test one can have the electronic control unit perform on itself. I want to try this as the shift motor rebuild didn't help me... but where is the control unit? I have a 1992 explorer xlt

I think I found it so never mind. I thought it was tucked away behind trim paneling or something. It is on the driver's side, rear fender in the compartment where the tire jack and rear window washer pump is. It6 has a white test button on the bottom of it. so FYI and please let me know if i'm mistaken
