So when I accelerate after coming to a complete stop the emergency brake light comes on and stays on till I reach about 25 mph. Just last night while on the highway the light would not turn off until I pumped the brakes a little bit. The only recent event that could possibly have had any effect was recently while pulling my boat out I began to lose traction and slip back into the water. I just gunned it and spun rubber until I was off the boat ramp. Anybody got any ideas?

I'd look at the switch and return spring on the pedal first.

not sure if it helps, but sometimes when entering/exiting the truck i engage the e-brake. mines very touchy...i just pull it a lil more to disengage. i could only hope itd be that simple for ya. good luck

Check the fluid level in the master cylinder. A low level will trigger the light.

Good news brake fluid is almost empty....:)..... So i don't have my fsm to double check the brake fluid . Pretty sure it's DOT-3 can anybody confirm? Thanks guys

Also what made the fluid level drop should I check anything else?

Dot 3...final answer??

correct!

also, do you even get a "spongy" brake pedal feeling at all?
id have someone press the brakes and check the reservoir. its supposed to fluctuate as you brake. may help determine if you have a leak. seems like if you had a leak somewhere, you wouldnt see the reservoir movement. also do the same above but check your calipers. not sure though, anyone correct me if im wrong?

ill do the legwork for you since im bored here at work, try checking the following:
1. missing or poorly-fitted brake master cylinder filler cap
2. punctured or otherwise damaged brake master cylinder reservoir
3. missing or damaged brake master cylinder filler cap gasket
4. missing, damaged or poorly-fitted sealing grommets between the brake master cylinder and the brake master cylinder reservoir(if its this, the brake master cylinder reservoir grommets are not separately repairable and must be installed new as part of a new brake master cylinder reservoir)
