I have noticed that my e-brake light will not always come on when I set my e-brake. Does anyone else have this problem? Sometimes it comes on when you set it and other times it doesn't.

One thing to note, my new driveway is on a slope so I was wondering if the level of the brake fluid would have anything to do with this. Since when I park my gas level drops since the front of my truck is facing down this hill on my driveway. No idea if that would have anything to do with this. It seems ok when setting on flat land but don't usually set it unless i am on a hill.

Thanks,
Mike

Mike, do check your brake fluid level as it will go down with normal usage as the pads wear. If it gets too low, then you will have serious problems including loss of brakes.

I belive the e-brake light is also wired into the brake fluid level sensor.

Another possibility could be the switch on the e-brake pedal.

Check the switch on the pedal. There is usually a dust buildup over time, it needs cleaning.

The little connector that attaches to the actual brake E-brake pedal cracks easily, or comes loose.

Try putting on that brake, and wiggling the wires down there, while watching to see if the light comes on.....

ok.. I looked at the brake fluid tonight and it wasn't too low, around min level so I will top that off tomorrow.

I will also look at the switch on the ebrake pedal. Is it located directly underneath the pedal?

Its up to the top of the pedal shaft and to the back.
