Hi,
I did one of the most stupid things yesterday, I drove around 80 miles with emergency brake on ( there was no warning at the dashboard initilally and after 90 mins. (approx ) of driving I saw the dashboard warning me of the hand brake ON signal, I released it immediately then, however I am not sure what would be the consequences of this e.g. do I need to go and get my vehicle inspected for emergency brakes and get them replaced etc....
Please advise.

Only 80mi? try doing this for 4 months  like i did only cuase the idiot light on my dash does'nt work at all. And the fact that a friend of mine drive the truck when it happened and did'nt know he had set the brake and i never bothered to check it after he drove it. So yeah i rolled around like that for awhile before i realized it. of course the whole time i was wondering why i had no power and my fuel mileage sucked major;) And yes i did mess up the rear shoes and had to replace them.

80 miles you probably did alittle damage to em but i doubt anything that would required a trip to the dealer.

welcome

Welcome to Explorer Forum! I doubt you did any damage at all. I drove like that and made mine smell burned like your breakfast toast. It did nothing to the shoes or drums. (Rear disc would have even less damage. They stay cooler.)

The design on the gen 3 Ebrakes is horrible at best. I drove for about 10 miles on mine and it wasn't even hot when I pulled over to check it out. I bet your shoes were already split apart. the shoes are small and inside the rear disks.

Thanks everyone, this helped !

**** did that on mine 3 or 4 oil changes ago... when i drove it up on my oil change ramps i set the parking brake... well drove to work 30 miles and it felt sluggish! i thought it was my 400lb toolbox in the back that i was transporting to work but after unloading it, i was driving home and looked down and went DOH!!! yea they were smoking :D  but i never use it so o well :)
