engine accelerated when it on idle

:fire: PLEASE HELP... I was driving my ranger go get the claps for my muffler. i drive it for like 8 miles without a muflfler. When i whent to stop the engine was accelerated and my foot was not on the gas pedal. My ford ranger is V6 3.0L MFi 4X4. Trun on the engine its at 4000Rpm's idle the engine sound like some was on the gas pedal. Or the valves done will drive it without a muffler Bad? PLEASE HELP

driving it without a muffler usually isnt a good thing

When I had my Ranger the floor mats would always get pushed forward and jam the pedal. Could it be something as simple as that?
