Hey, Tonight I started putting my truck back together after getting a new engine and tranny. I bolted the tranny to the engine, and the 4 bolts on the starter ring gear are alligned just great, but when I try to turn the crank to turn the gear so I can put the 4 nuts on, the crank wont turn. It will only turn if I loosen the engine to tranny bolts. I even tried cranking it with the spark plugs out so there wouldn't be so much compression in the cylinders, but it still wont turn. Any Ideas? I need to get this thing back together ASAP.

Thanks,
Andy

The torque converter is not fully seated. TC needs to be turned to make the three engagements. TC pilot should be back over 1/2 inch from the tranny face if it is properlu seated. You don't want to hear this but tranny has to be removed in order to do it. When tranny mounted to the engine and bolted up tight, the TC should flop around in the bolt holes. Running the engine with the TC not fully engages will destroy the tranny.

Ahhhhhhh.Im soo sick of this truck right now. I got the new engine and tranny in the truck on saturday afternoon, and got it all hooked up and everything on sunday. So it was running just great and everything. Then, I was hauling some stuff for my friend to his new house, and we notice tranny fluid dripping out of the tranny. So I checked fluid and added a quart. We drove about another mile and i could see a big trail of fluid all over behind us. So I looked and it is leaking out in between the flywheel and the torque converter. So i had to get it towed home and take the tranny back out last night so I could get it over to my tranny guy today. He said that he would have it fixed by tommorow afternoon so I can pick it up and put it back in. Putting that tranny in is such a pain in the a$$. I dont want to deal with it. Hopefully this is the last of my problems for a while. I didn't even have the tranny in for 2 days, and I had to take it back out.
