Well, I blew my engine last saturday. So, i ripped out the engine and the transmission. I took the transmission out because we thought the tranny caused the engine to blow because it started downshifting like 2 gears when I was doin about 80, which made the RPM's fly to over 6k. and it did this about 10 times before the truck started smoking really bad.

So I called around and got and engine with 100k on it for $400, and i got a tranny with 10k on the rebuild for $250 bucks!! I cant believe how cheap I got the tranny. So I will be putting the truck back together starting next saturday. Does anyone have any tips for putting and engine and transmission back in my truck? I think I'm going to put the engine in first and then put in the tranny. When I took it all apart, I labeled every wire that I disconnected, and bagged every nut and bolt and labeled them to make reinstallation easier.

Thanks,
Andy

I WOULD BOLT THE TWO TEGETHER FIRST THEN DROP THEM AS A SOLID UNIT IN THROUGH THE ENGINE BAY.....opps, caps lock was on

but wouldn't it be harder to put them in together because it would be so long and awkward. It is over 6ft from front to back with the two connected. How would I go about doing this? Just angle it when putting it in, and guide the tranny back and into place?

thanks,
Andy

Well, I got the tranny on saturday, and Im getting the engine today. I am planning on bolting it all together then droping them in as one unit. I will start the install on tuesday or thursday, depending on when I can get the cherry picker.
