When I do a full wash:
(a) Make sure the engine is cold (of course).
(b) Cover the intake, computer, IAC, and any other bare wires or electrical components (without seeing the bay in front of me, I forget everything).
(c) Lightly spray everything (using a nozzle, give it the quarter turn).
(d) Spray Simple Green on EVERYTHING. Let it soak for a few minutes.
(e) Rinse.
(f) Spray Simple Green on everything again. Let it soak again.
(g) Using a light to medium stiffness brush, lightly scrub anything you can, but be aware not to be too tough on hoses, etc.
(h) Flush everything with water. I usually rinse for a good five minutes.
(i) Let air dry, or use a leaf blower to air dry. Some folks unpeel the covers and turn it over. I'm not big on this at all. In addition, keeping some things covered helps with....
(j) On a cold, off engine, spray everything with CD-2 Engine Detailer (

(k) Allow to dry for a half hour or so.
(l) Start the engine to "bake" on the shine.
NEVER spray CD-2 on a hot engine.
