I would like to clean the engine compartment, but I'm not sure how to do it?

Spray a cleaner on it and let it sit and hose it off?
Scrub it with a soft brush?
Just get in there with the hose on a sharp stream and let it have it?

How do you do it?

i usually cover up the coil and the alternator and spray degreaser in there, let it sit, and then hose it down. for bigger buildups a toothbrush works good, also take parts off to clean them

Simple Green works well, followed by a GENTLE rinsing. I also spray a light coating of WD-40 over everything to displace any hidden moisture, prevent drying out stuff, and give it a nice, new look.

I bought this CD-2 degreaser and shiner from Target for $5.00 that worked great its two cans ones a degreaser that you spray on and leave for a bit then pressure wash off and the other is like armorall for the engine it really shines it up you just spray on and leave it. Just dont spray directly into alternator or distributer

Do what you want, but pressure washing sounds like a bad idea for anything on a vehicle. You'll more likely than not drive water where it's not supposed to be, wash grease out of bearings, etc. I'd let the solvent do the work, and rinse off with a regular hose.
