Engine Diagnostic test overuse?

I almost titled this "Engine Diagnostic test scam?" but i realize that some useful information might come from the test. having said that my dealer insists on performing a diagnostic test for almost everything under the sun. I wouldn't be suprised if i went in with a broken windshield they would want to run an engine diagnostic test. Is it just my dealer or are othe rpeople experiencing this? Also i have friends who have honda's, saturns, etc. and they do not pay a dime for this test, anyone else? thanks, Dan.

Just go to autozone, or other parts places, most can read CEL's and they do it for free.
