My 1999 Ford Ranger 4.0 Liter has started to die right after I start it and I have to start it again and sometimes it dies when I stop at a stop sign. I read somewhere that the mass air flow valve might cause it if it gets carboned up. I cleaned it up and it didn't help any and it seams like it might have made it worse. Does any one have any idea what might cause this problem? Any info will be appreciated.

Check the Idle Air Control Valve.
