Engine Humming at Idle?

Good day! I have a quick question about a rather annoying problem.

When my truck comes to a stop/sitting at idle, an audible humming noise sometimes can be heard coming from my engine. Most of the time it will go right away once I start in drive or reverse, but other times it takes a few minutes to stop on its own.

Any ideas? Is this a common problem with explorers?

If it's a fairly loud moan that comes from the air filter, it's the IAC, idle air control valve.

Well if you ever saw a good looking 96 Black Sport around that was me. It was s/c'ed in early 2001 and was lifted a bit later. I was in Austin on and off from mid 98 until the middle of 2002.

Probably passed you a few times. I was the white sport Yeah, put in some grad school time down there on the corner of san jacinto and dean keaton from 2000-2002. Now Im way up north again. I sure do miss TX!
