I have seached for awhile and can't find the answer to my questions. I have a 2001 ST job 2 and am planning on having a 5.0 swap done. I have found a 2001 Job 1 ST with a bad engine. I have read about the oil fill and oil filter being different. What else will I run into swapping the engine from my job 2 into the job 1 I am buying? Both are 4wd, trying to do the research for my mechanic so he will know what will need to be changed. I also plan on doing the chains on the job 2 engine while its out.

you probably will have to swap both valve covers, you more then likely have to swap all sensors, upper intake, and the harness for the motor, and possibly exhaust manifolds. to give you an example, i just swapped my 98 sohc motor into a 03 sport trac that i bought with a bad motor, and thats all i had to do.

Well I know a few sensors are different and the MAF is different one is aluminum and the other plastic and different internal sizes. I would say add the computer to the list possibly.

Well I went ahead and bought it. Towed it home with my F150 tonite. I guess I will find out what has to be changed when ever I get around to getting this done. I will need a drivers side valve cover for a job 1 as this one has a hole in it.

I am not sure all the differences other than the valvecovers, intake, throttle body, maybe the maf, but the exhaust manifolds should be the same, you can reuse your Job1 computer and engine harness, there may be a few sensors different but I'm not sure on that.

Thansk for the info. I hope to get my mechanic on the V6 swap after the V8 swap. Gonna have the updated chains and guides put in as mine are a little noisy. The bad engine knocked a hole in the left valve cover at the chain so I am guessing it broke or jumped hard.
