I've had a series of recent issues last few days. If some of you read my thread about "Hot air blowing out vents" the problem started when I bypassed my heater core by looping the hoses. It must of been just coincidence that my CE light came on after looping my heater core hoses. The engine still ran fine just the light was now on. I didn't think bypassing the core did it but just to check I hooked it back up but I was right it had nothing to do with that. So driving around another day with the CE light still on I decided to take a closer inspection to find what might be loose or came off. I found my MAF sensor plug had backed out. Over the years of pulling that on and off the clip on the plug was broken but it still plugged in tight. But now for whatever reason it does not want to stay fully plugged in so I put a Zip tie on it to hold it on. That was it CE light now off but idle all sudden dropped real low almost so low it wants to quit. I had to adjust the idle screw up so it would stay idling. I thought that is weird why my idle so low now. Was my MAF always not fully plugged in but why now the CE light come on if that was the case. So now I got it idling up and went for a drive. Got few blocks down and the engine just quits runnning like a ran out of gas. Pulled over popped the hood everthing looks fine get back in it starts up just fine. I drive it back towards my house its running fine. The gas gauge does show low but i know its not empty but decided to go fill it up any ways. I head toward the gas station a few blocks from my house. Just as I pull into driveway at gas station and it quits running again. I stop it restarts again just fine I pull up to pump and fill 15 gallons its not almost empty I drive back home circle the block a few times runs fine. Later that day I go out to check it again. Start it up idle is real low barely running. I think now what still low idle after I adjusted it up. So I check my codes and come up with 11, 66. 11 is all system ok 66 MAF signal low. So is my MAF sensor going bad? If so why did'nt my engine ever cut off when the MAF got disconnected.

I found the problem. I feel a little stupid. When I first went to take a closer look to find why my CE light had came on. I was going to take off my idle air control valve and clean it. I disconnected the plug as I was doing that I looked at my MAF plug and that's when I saw it had backed out. So my attention shifted to the MAF sensor and I forgot I unplugged the idle control valve. It had fell back against the connector so it didn't look disconnected at a glance. I did the battery disconnect while setting there waiting I was looking at the engine and saw it was not connected. I rememebered right then disconnecting it. I kinda felt stupid I guess this is what old age does to you you forget things!!

'fraid so. The other day I had to go to the market for three things. I made a list just to be safe. I'm 53 and was raised in the SF bay area in the 50's and 60's. There might have been something in the air. Oh cr@p. I forgot I just had a birthday and had to go back and edit my age.

Glad you got it worked out.
