- 1999 Mountaineer
I did a search but couldnt find any solid answers to my particular problem.
I have a 99 Mountaineer V8 5.0, about 182,x.. miles. There are no fluids leaking and everything is topped off, no check engine light.
I recently moved from Chicago to Reno,NV and drove the Mounty, roughly 1900 miles. I didnt notice a knocking until I pulled into Reno, there were some steep mountains that I did cross.
The knock starts from the moment the engine turns over and the frequency of the knock increase with the RPM. It is louder on colder days versus a warm day. The knock also isnt as loud when the mounty warms up after a little bit of driving.
There are no drivability issues and my gas mileage hasnt changed.
Any help would be appreciated
