Just curious, what the heck is a engine locking kit?

I'm assuming I'm just translating from UK to US english very well...

Hi Maniak
He Means the OTC - 6488 engine timing tool set. Includes tools to lock cam, crank tensioners etc
If you ever work on the timing chains or want to remove a head for the 4.0 SOHC you need a big box of "special" tools. Ford know how to make things complicated lol.

thanks for the translation.. I wasn't sure if it was UK vrs US, or 4.0 ohv to 4.0 sohc. it appears it was a little of both.. :)

The life of ex's over here would be soooo much simpler if we had the OHV engine as loads of ours have perished due to the timing chain issues on the SOHC. I myself am in the process of bringing one back to life with new tesioners, guides and chains.

hi guys i could really do with one of these kit is anyone willing to lend me one or sell me one as i have 2 explorer that need there chains replacing. I dont fancy doing it without the tools or can you just buy them from the ford garage.

cheers
