Ok so i found an older laptop and I wanted to set it up as an engine management PC for my 1994 XLT. Is it possible? What software would I use if possible? also how would i connect it? Thanks in advance. I would love to be able to put this PC to use and that seems like the perfect use for it.

THere are cheap (price wise) hardware (USB to OBD or serial to OBD) stuff out there there are simple and just plug in. But they arent really "management systems" - more for "monitoring". MegaSquirt is a possibility but its more of a replacement to the stock EFI controller and is much more involved. It can control ignition too but only via a signal to the stock EDIS unit.

If you are interested in a complete engine management system that controls and monitors everything and comes with a handheld programmer so you don't need a laptop, I have a new one for sale. Pretty much plug and play with a little bit of wiring alterations (cut/splice 4 wires) and mechanical work (swap stock crank pulley for the one with the kit). See the link in my sig at the bottom of this post.
