Hi All

I know this is one of probably the most covered subjects but i just need some advice where to start

The problem is this, When starting the car from cold it initially revs quite high for about 10secs then it will start to idle very roughly and will try to stall, when you move off and are driving its fine and then once the engine is warm it idles smoothly and there are no rattles.

Twice now it has almost stalled when cold and then the engine management light comes on, on the first occasion i took it to Ford dealer they said they checked all pipes and everything alright reset computer and sent me on my way.

Trouble is its happened again.

Can anyone help?

Thank you

Simon

Hi

I have taken off and cleaned the IAC this morning and this has made no difference, but when i unplug the MAF it will idle smoothly is this the part at fault?

I'm not sure if it has had the OOM12 kit fitted was it ever done as a recall?

Thanks

Simon

Could try cleaning the MAF sensor, it is easy, just be careful not to break the sensors, use rubbing alc. or something similar.

You will have to remove the security screws to get the MAF out, there are various ways to do this, I used a wrench to get the one with black paint on it out, then i remove the small pin on the other one to allow me to get a hex screwdriver in there.

As for the OOM12 blueka is probably right, never done. To tell get a torch and look under the plastic splash guard marked sohc 4.0 and if you can see a black extended timing chain tensioner it has been done.
