I have a 94 Explorer Sport 4X4 with 4 liter V-6 and electronic ignition(coil pack, etc., not distributor & rotor). I get an intermittent engine miss and vehicle starts to jerk at around 2200 - 2400 RPM when engine is under load like going up hills. I have had the plugs and wires changed as well as mass air flow replaced and new coil pack installed but continue to have the same problem albeit to a lesser degree. Any ideas of what could be the problem??!! When I take it to the dealer for scope diagnosic, they can't duplicate the problem in the service bay. I hate to continue spending money replacing parts hoping to hit the bad one. THX!!! John

Hello BrooklynBay....Thanks for your reply! Please help me understand how either of these would cause a miss condition at the specific RPM range 2200 - 2400 when engine is under load. Also, are these checked when dearler reads codes or during scope diagnostic review? THX!!! John

This is similar to setting the advance/retard on the older distributors. You have these sensors instead of a distributor. They tell the computer how to set the timing, and control the coil packs.

Hello BrooklynBay, Can you provide me with a diagram/photo, or recommend a free site that shows where these 2 sensors are located on the engine? THX!!! John
