2000 explorer EB with 5.0 engine, 135,x.. miles: Notice a engine miss around 1500/1800 RPM
but only while not under a load. Engine will stumble if driving around 25/35 mph. As soon as you accelerate the stumble goes away. Any body have any thoughts on this??????????????????

touch your brake pedal when this happens. If it goes away drain your entire trans and replace with mercon V. This could be transmission shudder, but it could be caused by things like plugs, wires, etc.

have had new torque converter installed with tranny service three months ago at my local stealership!

did they refill with MERCON V? That makes All the difference.

as far as I know they did but I will double check. Wouldn't the Ford dealer automatically use this???? I have owned the car since new and have had trans service religiously. Have noticed this problem for the first time in the last couple of weeks.

They should use that...but what you describe at those speeds with the 4r70w trans is possible converter shudder. Maybe run that by the dealer.
