I need some help asap if possible , ill explain exactly what happened and im hoping someone can figure this problem out

I first got gas because i was almost completely on empty and i had to stop at the bank and i had someone else in the explorer so i left the engine on well on my way back i noticed the engine was off and he said the vehicle started shaking alot while it was in park and so he shut it off , well i went to go start it and nothing happened and so i was trying to figure out what it was , the battery is fine but it seems like the gas wasent getting to the engine , we checked the fuel pump relay because we heard no sound from the pump and we checked the fuse and the fuse was blown so we just swapped it out and tried it again and it blew another fuse so we tried a higher fuse a 30 amp and we tried starting the engine and we heard like double clicking near the fuse and found we blew the 30 amp one , but we also though it was the fuel filter at first so we took it out but when going to start it , no gas was coming out of the line like it should be with the filter off it should just pour out of the hose

So it seems like its almost a electrical issue , but we cant figure out why the gas is not coming out , almost like the fuel pump is off maybe due to electrical issue considering it blew out 3 fuses , so in the morning we are gonna look at the wires but i was hoping someone else might have had a similar issue and knows what to do to fix it

you might have over heated the pump because you ran the tank empty, and seized it.

I somewhat agree with Vroom, but I think perhaps you have "trash" in the tank (almost all older tanks have it) and by draining the tank it clogged the fuel pump screen and the pump started to strain trying to draw fuel resulting in pulling too many amps and blowing the fuse. Either way, like Vroom stated, the pump is probably why you're blowing the fuse not an electrical issue.

By the way, putting in a larger fuse is not a very smart thing to do.

If your fuel pump fuse is blowing, then obviously you either have a short in the wiring or the pump is bad. If you are lucky the fuse blows consistently.

Now you can spend hours chasing a short or you can drop the tank and then disconnect the fuel pump. If the fuse no longer blows, then you know the short is in the pump. Since the tank is down, you should go ahead and swap the pump anyway which more than likely will fix your problem.

By the way, you should never drain your tank if you can help it in any way.

Good luck.

failed pump

I suspect that either there is an internal short in the fuel pump or it is seized and drawing excessive current. Some members have tapped the tank to get the pump to run when it is not shorted. If the fuse blows immediately then it is probably shorted. Either way you have proven it has failed and needs to be replaced. There is a screen ("sock") on the pickup which can become clogged preventing fuel from being sucked up by the pump. Fuel is always pulled from the bottom of the tank so it shouldn't make much difference if the tank is run "dry".

I dont know to much about electrical but i also thought that it was a short and that was why it was blowing out the fuse , but i wasent positive on that

Also the fuel pump is pretty new like less then a year old , i know things can happen and they can go bad but this is like brand new , so im not sure if i should be looking for a short in the wiring or a break in the wiring

of course the "new state" of your pump points to the next question... who put it in and did the wiring???... that will likely be your next "clue" on where to look.

It was done by a licensed mechanic that i asked him to make sure the wiring was good before installing the new one and he assured me that it was fine

Thanks for your advice everyone , unfortunately i found out that it was the fuel pump that all of a sudden went bad , at least i know what the problem is

I got told by a neighbor that is a mechanic that for electrical parts that i should only buy ford parts , im not sure how true it is from a dealership they cost like $500 but i can get on not from a dealership but an actual ford one for $325 im not even sure if that is a good price it seems almost like it is
