Hey guys,

I live in Ohio and yesterday we got a little bit of snow so I put my '94 in 4x4. I started driving and noticed while I was sitting at a stop light my truck was shaking pretty bad. The only time I've noticed this before is when I first start it up in the mornings but it usually goes away after a minute or two. I thought the shaking might of been from the 4x4, but then I took it out of 4WD and it still continued to shake and this was long after it's warmed up. I noticed once I get above 1000 RPMs it stops, but while it's idling it will shake in any gear...reverse, neutral, or drive. As a comparison, the shake feels like the 65MPH shake alot of Explorers get with the Firestones. Does anyone have any idea what the problem might be? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks alot.

I would try removing and cleaning the idle air control valve
and the throttle body (both sides of the butterfly valve.).

vacuum leak?

Could be a vacuum leak, check the vacuum spider at the raer of the intake, close to the brake booster. Look for missing , cracked hoses, check the hoses to the FPR, air cleaner, trans, etc. One could be loose or missing and cause a bit of shake esp. at high vacuum (idle, cruise).

Cleaning the IAC is a good idea, also the TB if it hasnt been done in a while.

Good Luck

I would also pull the codes from the computer just to see what it has to say about the problem, and while your busy cleaning sensor under the hood dont forget the MAS. Good luck.

Also sounds alot like a stuck open EGR valve. While it is doing this, see if you can bang on the EGR housing with the end of a screwdriver. EGR's not suposed to open until running rpm. If you got the stuff, pull vacuum on it and see if you can tell if its moving. {Edited}- I've had this symptom and fix before on other vehicles. After I wrote this, I took a quick look in the Explorer. I may be wrong. Where the !$#*& is the EGR on these things?
