engine running hot

2001 exlporer sport. The temperature gauge went up almost to the H. There was no steam or smoke coming out from anywhere but when it gets hot,the transmission wants to shift a little differently. Check engine light came on. Could this be a thermostat or maybe transmission filter kit needed? Im a new female member so HELP!!! Thanks for any advice.:exp:

Welcome to the forum! Have you checked what the check engine light codes were yet? Also checking the fluids to start with would be a good idea. If you check the oil and it appears to be milky then it could be the head gasket went.

Welcome to this forum! Did you check the coolant level? It might be low.

I have a 2001 explorer sport. Check engine light is on with a code saying bank 1 and bank 2 running lean. Meaning what? Also now when I try to use my AC,my engine just cuts out and stalls. Any suggestions? Thanks...
